Hats are an equippable clothing item in Stardew Valley that allow you to customize your character. You can obtain hats through foraging, purchasing them from Hat Mouse, and even by digging in the trash! With so many hats to choose from in-game, the possibilities for character customization are nearly endless. But the real question is: which hat is the best? This gamer has the answers!

5. The Living Hat

The living hat is very difficult to obtain. You can obtain it through cutting down fiber (0.001% chance) or from Wilderness Golems on the Wilderness farm. The rareness of the hat earns it a lower spot on this list; however, this hat makes me live out my cottagecore fantasy like no other. I feel like I am one with the Earth with this hat on, making it my number 5 pick.

4. Skeleton Mask

The skeleton mask makes for a badass addition to the game. My favorite thing to use this hat for is on my horse, to make it look like the skeleton horse of my dreams. For the player, its not my favorite accessory, but the sheer hilarity of seeing my horse wear this hat in the game earns it a spot on this list.

3. Garbage Hat

This hat is also a bit difficult to get, as it can only be obtained through digging in the trash. There is a 0.2% chance of finding this hat after digging in trash cans at least 20 times. This hat is so much fun to wear, especially during romantic cutscenes and best of all, your wedding. It is definitely worth some odd looks from the villagers in order to obtain this hat.

2. Magic Cowboy Hat

A rainbow cowboy hat? Say no more, I am sold. This hat almost made it in the number one spot, but alas, another hat has my whole heart. The magic cowboy hat can be purchased from the Desert Trader for 333 omni geodes, and the steep price is so worth it. Watching this hat change colors is mesmerizing, so much so that I sometimes get distracted from what I am doing just to stare at it.

1. Mushroom Cap

Anyone who knows me probably could have guessed this would be the number 1 pick. I love mushrooms, so when I received this hat for the first time, I was over the moon. This hat can be obtained by cutting down mushroom trees, and is fairly easy to get if you chop down enough. I let the mushroom trees grow out of control on my farms just to get this hat. This hat embodies my soul in a way that no other hat can, and I especially love wearing this hat on the Forest farm, as I feel like it just adds to the vibe I go for so well.
